Since 2020 based in Amsterdam, prior assignments include Sydney, Frankfurt and Bangalore.
Uday was appointed Head of Wholesale Banking (WB) Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in November 2020. A member of the WB management team, Uday drives the WB strategy for EMEA and is responsible for the performance of the WB markets for the region, which accounts for about 70% of the ING’s WB income.
Prior to his current role, he headed ING in Australia from 2016 until 2020, the Group’s second largest retail business outside the home markets, where under his leadership the customers who considered ING as their main bank quadrupled.
From 2014-2016 Uday was based in India as Deputy CEO and Head of Wholesale Banking at ING Vysya Bank. With the merger of ING Vysya Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank in 2015, he was appointed President at Kotak Mahindra Bank.
From December 2012- April 2014, he held the position of Chief Strategy Officer at ING-DiBa in Germany based out of Frankfurt, where he was responsible for the strategic direction of the bank.
He started his career at Citibank in 1994 before joining ING Group in 2007 in India as Country Head, Retail Banking at ING Vysya Bank, where he steered the retail bank turnaround.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Electrical & Electronics and a Master of Science (Hons) Economics from BITS, Pilani, India; along with an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, India.
